simple life

According to Bhagavad-gītā, economic problem can be solved anywhere. If you get, if you have some land, you produce your food grain and give it to the animals, especially to the cows, and she will give you in return milk.
Flying here, Srila Prabhupada said, "This is a very dangerous spot [amidst the Alps]. Many planes crash here." Later I asked if great sages still lived in the Himalayas. He said yes: Vyasadeva, Valmiki and Nara-Narayana. I mentioned to him that in the Bhagavatam he says that there's a gold peak in the Himalayas. "Yes," he said, "if they find that out, they will become mad to go there." This afternoon we were given an official reception by the governor of Geneva. Srila Prabhupada spoke on the verse sa vai pumsam. . . "The science of God must begin with knowledge that one is spirit soul, not the body." The governor asked, "If everyone becomes Krsna conscious, won't the economy be in trouble?" "No," Srila Prabhupada said, and he quoted the same verse he cited over a month ago in Hyderabad: annad bhavanti bhūtani. "Everyone subsists on grains." So he proposed that if everyone cultivates his own land and keeps cows, there will be no economic problem. One should live simply and spend the saved time solving the problems of birth, death, old age and disease. Later Srila Prabhupada asked, "Were my answers all right?" I said that the governor asked about the economy being in trouble if everyone became a devotee because he thinks we are simply beggars. "Therefore," Prabhupada said, "I talked about tilling the land. We are not beggars. We are giving the highest knowledge. We gave him the book of highest knowledge [Bhagavad-gita], but he could not give us anything."    (More...)
Anywhere you sit down, you have got land and cow. You produce something and cow's milk. That is sufficient for maintenance.
* Or it may named "Krishna Consciousness" size maybe 8 ; " x 11" or similar published every month in first class paper with various pictures. Our propagation is to turn people's minds to the actual existence of God. And we want to preach that Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead and to understand Krishna, the Bhagavad Gita is the first and foremost scripture. And to be in constant touch with Krishna the only vibration is "Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare. Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare." And the only activities or engagement of the people should be in the service of Krishna. These four principles should be thoroughly preached through ISKCON magazine "Back to Godhead" and all thought provoking articles, philosophy, logic, arts, sciences, everything, should be engaged to develop this idea. I do not know how my suggestion will react upon your ideas, but I am sure if you will cooperate with me on this basis my American students will devote their life and soul for this cause. To summarize this idea, you will have to help me immediately to open a nice ISKCON branch in India maybe in Vrindaban or in Delhi, for the time being and to attract the attention of the leading business magnets of India for supporting this cause. Fortunately you are blessed in a position from where you can approach the many business magnets who are generally Vishnuvites. Even they are not Vaishnavas, they should come forward to help this cause because this movement is the only movement which can unite all the people in the world in oneness. This is practically proven. The American boys and girls are neither Hindus nor Indians nor they have any knowledge of Sanskrit; and still they have taken this movement wholeheartedly, and that is the proof that Krishna Consciousness movement will be accepted all over the world. We are contemplating to open branches in Amsterdam, Holland, which is a great center for youth movement. Some of my books are being already translated into French language. So your idea of publishing the magazine from India is welcome, and if it is practical to do in the way as I have suggested above, it can be done immediately.    (More...)
Anywhere, you can live peacefully. Whole economic question is solved. And because we have forgotten, we have missed the real point, that our life is meant for God-realization. We are simply increasing botheration.
Therefore, without knowing our ultimate goal of life is Visnu, na te viduḥ svartha-gatim hi visnum... [SB 7.5.31]. That is our interest. The human form of life is offered by nature after so much evolutionary process, just to understand Visnu, God. This is the only business. But instead of attending our real business, we are trying to be happy in other ways. Then you can say that "If we are engaged in real business, then how the economic question will be solved? We have to work." That's all right, you work. But work simple. Why you have invented so much botheration? Work is there. If you have cows and if you have got land, then you till the land, get grains, and there is milk, there is fruit, there is flower. Anywhere, you can live peacefully. Whole economic question is solved.    (More...)
By God's arrangement, anyone in any part of the world can live very peacefully if he has some land and a milk cow.
Collecting and eating more than necessary also causes prayasa, or unnecessary endeavor. By God's arrangement, anyone in any part of the world can live very peacefully if he has some land and a milk cow. There is no need for man to move from one place to another to earn a livelihood, for one can produce food grains locally and get milk from cows. That can solve all economic problems. Fortunately, man has been given higher intelligence for the cultivation of Krsna consciousness, or the understanding of God, one's relationship with Him, and the ultimate goal of life, love of God. Unfortunately, so-called civilized man, not caring for God realization, utilizes his intelligence to get more than necessary and simply eat to satisfy the tongue.    (More...)
In the material world means for your maintenance you have to work. But that work is very simple. Grow some food grains and keep some cows, take the milk, and just prepare nice foodstuff and eat.
"Govindam adi-purusam tam aham bhajami." Our program in Krsna consciousness is to worship the Supreme Lord, Govinda, Sri Krsna. Those who are serious about yoga or spiritual life must necessarily go to the yoga authorities for genuine spiritual knowledge. Just as, if one wants to be a doctor, one must study with a doctor, similarly, to have spiritual realization one must associate with those who are accepted as mahatmas, great souls. The qualifications of such great souls are described by Lord Krsna in Bhagavad-gita, Chapter Nine, verse 14, to quote one of many verses which confirm the same principle: "They are always engaged in chanting My glories. Endeavoring with great determination, offering homage unto Me, they worship Me with devotion." In the Western world there is one such mahatma, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. My preceptor, Srila Prabhupada, is all that I know, and hence all that I can relate to you is simply what I have heard from his pure lips.    (More...)
Our program is to live in New Vṛndāvana, depend on agriculture and cows as an economic solution, and peacefully execute Kṛṣṇa consciousness, chant Hare Kṛṣṇa
To further this end we not only are establishing New Vrndavana, our commune, but are establishing New Navadvipa and New Jagannatha Puri in America. We have already started New Jagannatha Puri in San Francisco, and the Ratha-yatra Festival is going on. This year also there will be a great ceremony of Ratha-yatra in London. There will be three cars for Jagannatha, Subhadra and Balarama, and They will be taken to the River Thames. And in America they have imported New England and New York, so why not New Vrndavana? We should especially establish this New Vrndavana because Lord Caitanya recommended aradhyo bhagavan krsna tad dhama vrndavanam. Krsna, the son of Nanda Maharaja, in the Vrndavanadhama of Vrajabhūmi, is the Supreme Worshipable Deity, and His place Vrndavana is also worshipable. The Western boys and girls are taking to Krsna consciousness, and they should have a place like Vrndavana. Svami Kirtanananda, who went to Vrndavana with me two years ago, knows what Vrndavana is like, so I have instructed him to construct at least seven temples. In Vrndavana, there are 5,000 temples of Radha-Krsna, but the most important temples are seven, established by the Gosvamis. Our program is to live in New Vrndavana, depend on agriculture and cows as an economic solution, and peacefully execute Krsna consciousness, chant Hare Krsna-that is the Vrndavana scheme. Yuktahara-viharas ca yoga bhavati siddhidaḥ. This human form of life isn't meant for increasing artificial needs. We should be satisfied just to maintain the body and soul together, and the rest of the time we should enhance our Krsna consciousness so that after leaving this body we won't have to take another material body but will be able to go back home, back to Godhead. That should be the motto of human life.    (More...)
the gṛhasthas may come here, have some small cottage, and grow your own food grains, vegetables, and have your cow's milk. Get nice foodstuff, save time. Why should you go in the city?
So take these words of Krsna, guru-Krsna. The guru will also..., the same thing, what Krsna has said, and follow the principles: your life is successful. Now, this place I see, although I have not seen all, is a nice place. And the grhasthas may come here, have some small cottage, and grow your own food grains, vegetables, and have your cow's milk. Get nice foodstuff, save time. Why should you go in the city, hundred miles in car and again hundred miles come back and take unnecessary trouble? Stick to this spot and grow your own food, your own cloth, and live peacefully, save time, chant Hare Krsna. Very nice program. This is actual life. What is this nonsense life, big, big cities and always people busy? If he wants to see one friend, he has to go thirty miles. If he has to see a physician, he has to go fifty miles. If he has to go to work, another hundred miles. So what is this life? This is not life. Be satisfied.    (More...)
This Vedic civilization was that keep some land and keep some cows. Then your whole economic question is solved.
That is the system, that in India every man is producing his food grains independently. Now it is stopped. Formerly, all these men, they used to produce their food grain. So they used to work for three months in a year, and they could stock the whole year's eatable food grains. Life was very simple. After all, you require to eat. So this Vedic civilization was that keep some land and keep some cows. Then your whole economic question is solved.    (More...)
