For thousands of years, sincere souls all over the world in search of spiritual realization have accepted Bhagavad-gita as their most basic and profound text. Lord Caitanya, the most munificent incarnation of Godhead, appeared 500 years ago to demonstrate by example how to live the teachings of Bhagavad-gita in the present age. Teachings of Lord Caitanya recounts the words and deeds of this great saint. Lord Caitanya was famous as a scholar and spoke authoritatively on Krsna, yoga, liberation, and nirvana; still He is better known as the divine origin of the Hare Krsna movement, distributing love of God simply by singing the holy names. In His profound discourses on Vedanta and in His ecstatic sahkirtana festivals, Lord Caitanya was an example to all of how to attain the ultimate goal of life-Love of God-and this most advanced work on spiritual science can bring the reader into loving reciprocation with that Absolute Truth.

So we require hundreds and thousands of spiritual masters who has understood this Krsna science and preach all over the world. That is the problem. Therefore we have formed this society and we, we invite all sincere souls to take part in the society and become a spiritual master, and preach this science all over the world. This is the... There is a great necessity of this knowledge. Don't think that Krsna was born in India, and because He spoke on the Vedic principle, that is a sectarian thing. No. Krsna says that    (More...)

Guru means who follows the predecessor, authorized predecessor. He is guru. Not that everyone is guru. So therefore we have to follow the superior order. Then we become guru, not that by cheating others we become guru. No. That is cheater. That is not teacher. Guru means who is following the superior order. The superior order is Krsna or His representative. So Caitanya Mahaprabhu is Krsna. He is ordering, amara ajnaya, "By My order," guru hana, "you become guru." "Sir, it is very difficult to become guru. I have no education. I have no culture. I am not born in a very high family. I am very low." A devotee always thinks like that. He never thinks that "I have become very great man." Just like Caitanya-caritamrta, author of, he says, purisera kita haite muni se laghistha . Purisa, purisa means stool, and there are worms in the stool. So Caitanya-caritamrta author is saying that "I am lower than the worms in the stool." That is Vaisnava conception. Trnad api sunicena. He is very humble. He never says, "Oh, I am the Supreme. I have become God." A most rascal, foolish. So that is not... Therefore we have to follow. If we actually want to become guru, there is necessity of many thousands of gurus to teach this cheated public. But how to become guru? That is... Caitanya Mahaprabhu says, amara ajnaya: "By My order." "What is Your order, Sir?" Now, yare dekha, tare kaha 'krsna'-upadesa [Cc Madhya 7.128]. Then you become guru. You simply advise people to follow Krsna's instruction. Then you become guru.    (More...)

If you actually want santi, peace, then you try to understand only three things. What is that? Sarva-loka-mahesvaram: Krsna is the proprietor of everything. Just like we ask every day, "Who is the proprietor of the sea?" They do not know. Theories. But Krsna said, "I am the proprietor," sarva-loka-mahesvaram, "not only of this sea." This Pacific Ocean is only one, insignificant. There are millions of Pacific Ocean flying in the sky. So who is the proprietor? Sarva-loka-mahesvaram. Krsna says, "I am." You are not proprietor. There must be some proprietor. So who is that proprietor? Krsna says, "I am the proprietor." You have to know it, whether Krsna is not proprietor. He says, "I am proprietor," but if you are doubtful, prove that He is not proprietor. But that you cannot do. Or bring another person who can claim like that, that "I am the proprietor." Therefore you have to accept Krsna as the proprietor. And it is accepted by all great personalities: Vyasadeva, Narada, Asita, Devala, all the acaryas, Nimbarka, then Madhvacarya, Ramanujacarya, and our worshipable Deity, Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Everyone has accepted. So unless we are grand fool, we can't deny this. It is not possible. Evam parampara-praptam [Bg 4.2]. We have to take knowledge by the disciplic succession. So let us get admission by Caitanya Mahaprabhu: krsnas tu bhagavan svayam [SB 1.3.28]. Yare dekha tare kaha krsna-upadesa [Cc Madhya 7.128].    (More...)

Prabhupada: That is another misgiving. They will never be able to learn Sanskrit, and neither it is possible that by learning Sanskrit they will be elevated. There are many Sanskrit scholars. So how they are elevated? They are rotting. It is not a good suggestion, this. If the harijana actually becomes harijana, then it will benefit. That training we can give. This Krsna consciousness movement is that we can make a harijana, a so-called, I mean to say, camaras, bhahgis... Now they understand harijana means he must be a camara or bhangi. But that is not the actual... Harijana means devotee, "the man of Hari." So in spite of their illiteracy in Sanskrit language, we can make him harijana, actually. So why do you take the trouble of learning Sanskrit? Krsna says in the Bhagavad-gita, mam hi partha vyapasritya ye 'pi syuḥ papa-yonayaḥ [Bg 9.32]. Papa-yoni means low-grade birth. So anyone, that includes the camaras, bhahgis, they can be purified if they take to the shelter of Krsna. Because Krsna says, aham tvam sarva papebhyo moksayisyami. The best thing is to induce them to come to Krsna. Then they will be purified. And the simple method is recommended by Krsna Himself and Caitanya Mahaprabhu, His incarnation: this kirtana. Engage them in sahkirtana movement, which is being pushed by this Krsna consciousness movement, and they will be purified. They don't require to learn Sanskrit even. As it is. Let them chant Hare Krsna and they will be purified. And if you want to teach them Sanskrit, it will take three thousand years. [laughter] That is impossible.    (More...)

Krsna says, sarva-dharman parityajya mam ekam saranam vraja [Bg 18.66], and one who has got faith in these words-"Yes, if I surrender to Krsna, all success will follow"-this is faith. So faith is the beginning of Krsna consciousness. Adau sraddha tataḥ sadhu-sahgaḥ [Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu 1.4.15], Cc. Madhya 23.14]. So if we have got faith in the words of Krsna-they are very openly spoken-then our life becomes successful. But we have no faith in Krsna. They take Krsna as ordinary human being. Avajananti mam mūḍhaḥ [Bg 9.11].    (More...)
