log floating downstream
|
Imported quote 15435 The living entity who is transmigrating through the 8,400,000 species of life is sometimes likened to a log which is gliding downstream on the waves of the river. Sometimes, by chance, the log comes to the shore and it is saved from being forced to drift further downstream. There is a nice verse in the Srimad Bhagwatam [10.38.5] in which every conditioned soul is encouraged: "Nobody should be depressed, thinking that he will never be out of the clutches of matter; because there is the possibility of being rescued exactly like the log which floats on the river for some time, and then comes to rest on the bank." This fortunate opportunity is also discussed here by the Lord.
