when liberated fall down

Imported quote 13043 Here in this verse the Lord is described as mukti-pati, which means one under whose lotus feet there are all kinds of mukti. There are five kinds of mukti-sayujya, sarūpya, salokya, samipya and sarsti. Out of these five muktis, which can be achieved by any person engaged in devotional service to the Lord, the one which is known as sayujya is generally demanded by Mayavadi philosophers; they demand to become one with the impersonal Brahman effulgence of the Lord. In the opinion of many scholars, this sayujya-mukti, although counted among the five kinds of mukti, is not actually mukti because from sayujya-mukti one may again fall down to this material world. This information we have from Srimad-Bhagavatam wherein it is said patanty adhaḥ, which means "they again fall down." The monist philosopher, after executing severe austerity, merges into the impersonal effulgence of the Lord, but the living entity always wants reciprocation in loving affairs. Therefore, although the monist philosopher is elevated to the status of being one with the effulgence of the Lord, because there is no facility for associating with the Lord and rendering service unto Him, he again falls into this material world, and his service propensity is satisfied by material welfare activities like humanitarianism, altruism and philanthropy. There are many instances of such falldowns, even for great sannyasis in the Mayavada school.
(More...) Imported quote 13883 When a living entity gives up the material coverings, he remains a spirit soul. This spirit soul must enter into the spiritual sky to merge into the Brahman effulgence. Unfortunately, unless the living entity has information of the spiritual world and the Vaikunthas, there is a 99.9 percent chance of his falling down again into material existence. There is, however, a small chance of being promoted to a spiritual planet from the Brahman effulgence, or the brahmajyoti. This brahmajyoti is considered by impersonalists to be without variety, and the Buddhists consider it to be void. In either case, whether one accepts the spiritual sky as being without variety or void, there is none of the spiritual bliss which is enjoyed in the spiritual planets, the Vaikunthas or Krsnaloka. In the absence of varieties of enjoyment, the spirit soul gradually feels an attraction to enjoy a life of bliss, and not having any information of Krsnaloka or Vaikunthaloka, he naturally falls down to material activities in order to enjoy material varieties.
(More...) Imported quote 13904 "When they have thus enjoyed heavenly sense pleasure, they return to this mortal planet again." (Bg. 9.21) Thus after exhausting the results of pious activities, one has to come again to the lower planetary systems and begin a new chapter of pious activities. It is therefore said in Srimad-Bhagavatam, naiskarmyam apy acyuta-bhava-varjitam: "The path of liberation is not at all secure unless one attains the devotional service of the Lord." (Bhag. 1.5.12) Even if one is promoted to the impersonal brahmajyoti, he runs every chance of falling down into this material world. If it is possible to fall down from the brahmajyoti, which is beyond the higher planetary systems in this material world, then what can be said of the ordinary yogis and karmis who can only be elevated to the higher material planets? Thus the wives of the denizens of the higher planetary systems did not very much appreciate the results of karma, jnana and yoga.
(More...) Imported quote 15550 "O Lord, the intelligence of those who think themselves liberated but who have no devotion is impure. Even though they rise to the highest point of liberation by dint of severe penances and austerities, they are sure to fall down again into material existence, for they do not take shelter at Your lotus feet." Evidence of this same point is also given in Bhagavad-gita (9.11), wherein the Lord says:
(More...) There are two kinds of liberated souls even in this material body: the soul liberated by devotional service, and the soul liberated by the cultivation of knowledge. The difference is that the liberated soul in devotional service becomes more and more elevated, being attracted by the transcendental qualities of Krishna, whereas the dry speculators who simply cultivate knowledge without any connection with devotional service become fallen on account of their many offences.
(More...) Imported quote 17523 So Brahman realization without activity of Brahman will not allow you to stay in the Brahman position. You'll fall down. Aruhya krcchrena param padam tataḥ patanty adhaḥ anadrta-yusmad-ahghrayaḥ [SB 10.2.32]. Patanty adhaḥ. By great austerities and penance, they can rise up to the param padam, aham brahmasmi, brahma-pada. But aruhya krcchrena param padam tataḥ, from that place, patanty adhaḥ, again falls down in this material world. Why? Anadrta-yusmad-ahghrayaḥ: "Because they did not learn how to honor Your lotus feet." Because they are impersonalists, they are-"God, or the Brahman, has no leg." So how they will take shelter of the leg or lotus feet? Impersonal. Therefore the very word is used, anadrta-yusmad-ahghrayaḥ. Ahghrayaḥ means this leg, or lotus feet. So because they have no information, or they..., even they have got information, they are not inclined to render service, therefore they fall down. This is the position.
(More...) Imported quote 18050 The veda-vada followers of the Vedas are generally inclined to karma-kanḍa, the performance of sacrifice according to the Vedic injunctions. They are thereby promoted to higher planetary systems. They generally practice the Caturmasya system. Aksayyam ha vai caturmasya-yajinaḥ sukrtam bhavati: one who performs the caturmasya-yajna becomes pious. By becoming pious, one may be promoted to the higher planetary systems (ūrdhvam gacchanti sattva-sthaḥ). Some of the followers of the Vedas are attached to karma-kanḍa, the fruitive activities of the Vedas, in order to be promoted to a higher standard of life. Others argue that this is not the purpose of the Vedas. Tad yathaiveha karma jitaḥ lokaḥ ksiyate evam evam utra punya jitaḥ lokaḥ ksiyate. In this world someone may become very highly elevated by taking birth in an aristocratic family, by being well educated, beautiful or very rich. These are the gifts for pious activities enacted in the past life. However, these will be finished when the stock of pious activity is finished. If we become attached to pious activities, we may get these various worldly facilities in the next life and may take birth in the heavenly planets. But all this will eventually be finished. Ksine punye martya-lokam visanti (Bg. 9.21): when the stock of pious activity is finished, one again has to come to this martya-loka. According to the Vedic injunctions, the performance of pious activity is not really the objective of the Vedas. The objective of the Vedas is explained in Bhagavad-gita. Vedais ca sarvair aham eva vedyaḥ: the objective of the Vedas is to understand Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Those who are veda-vadis are not actually advanced in knowledge, and those who are followers of jnana-kanḍa (Brahman understanding) are also not perfect. However, when one comes to the platform of upasana and accepts the worship of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, he becomes perfect (aradhananam sarvesam visnor aradhanam param). In the Vedas the worship of different demigods and the performance of sacrifice are certainly, mentioned, but such worship is inferior because the worshipers do not know that the ultimate goal is Visnu (na te viduḥ svartha-gatim hi visnum). When one comes to the platform of visnor aradhanam, or bhakti-yoga, one has attained the perfection of life. Otherwise, as indicated in Bhagavad-gita, one is not a tattva-vadi but a veda-vadi, a blind follower of the Vedic injunctions. A veda-vadi cannot be purified from material contamination unless he becomes a tattva-vadi, that is, one who knows tattva, the Absolute Truth. Tattva is also experienced in three features-brahmeti paramatmeti bhagavan iti sabdyate. Even after coming to the platform of understanding tattva, one must worship Bhagavan, Visnu and His expansions, or one is not yet perfect. Bahūnam janmanam ante jnanavan mam prapadyate: after many births, one who is actually in knowledge surrenders unto Krsna. The conclusion is that unintelligent men with a poor fund of knowledge cannot understand Bhagavan, Brahman or Paramatma, but after studying the Vedas and attaining the understanding of the Absolute Truth, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, one is supposed to be on the platform of perfect knowledge.
(More...) Imported quote 18821 So why, if they have gone to the spiritual world and stays in the Brahman effulgence, and still they are maninaḥ, not certain? Yes. Why? Because they cannot stay there. This is very logical argument and statement of the Vedic literature. Aruhya krcchrena param padam tataḥ patanty adhaḥ [SB 10.2.32]. They fall down because they do not get ananda. Spiritual effulgence is simply eternity. So suppose if you live eternally without any ananda, how long you will like to live like that? Is it possible? That you cannot do. Suppose somebody lives eternally in the sky without any death. Rather, he will try to commit suicide. It is not possible. It is not possible. Just like we have got experience: if you remain for very long time-I have got experience-in the sea or in the air, you feel very uncomfortable. You want to land down, land down, another air station, another port, and feel very uncomfortable. The airplane men, they come down and they take rest on the ground. It is not our nature, because it is impersonal. In the air there is no variety, simply air. Similarly, in the sea there is no variety, simply water. So it becomes suffocating. Similarly, those who are aspiring to go to the Brahman effulgence... Brahman effulgence is spiritual world, certainly, but there is no variety. There is no Krsna's enjoying with the cowherds boys or Srimati Radharani. You cannot find there. You simply remain in the Brahman effulgence.
(More...) But because we are part and parcel of Krsna, as Krsna wants enjoyment, anandamayo 'bhyasat [Vedanta-sūtra 1.1.12], anandamaya, so we part and parcel of Krsna, we also want ananda. So to remain in the Brahman effulgence is not ananda. It is eternity only. It is not ananda. Therefore on account of absence of ananda, they come down again to enjoy this material ananda. We have got many experience of persons. The Mayavadi sannyasi, they take sannyasa, brahma satyam jagan mithya, but after some time they come to take parts in politics. Why? Is jagan mithya, why you are taking to politics? Because they could not get ananda. Nirvisesa, nirakara-simply philosophizing, but there was no ananda. "Therefore let me go to the jail by political activities. There is ananda." [laughter] Yes, they do, practically. Yes. So they will take ananda in the jail, not with Krsna.
(More...) Therefore sastra says, aruhya krcchrena param padam tataḥ patanty adhaḥ anadrta-yusmad-ahghrayaḥ [SB 10.2.32]. This class of men, although after severe penance and austerities, aruhya krcchrena, very severe penance and austerities performing... The Mayavadi sannyasi, those who are really following the principles, their life is very strict, stricter than the Vaisnavas'. So in spite of such strict observance of rules and regulation and rising up to the Brahman effulgence, because they do not get ananda... Ananda is there with Krsna, Krsnaloka. Ananda-cinmaya-rasa-pratibhavitabhis tabhir ya eva nija-rūpataya kalabhiḥ [Bs 5.37].
(More...) Imported quote 18981 That is our actual position. Jivera svarūpa haya nitya-krsna-dasa [Cc Madhya 20.108-109]. By His unlimited potency, energy, unlimited universes are coming out with unlimited number of varieties of planet, and each planet is differently situated, different atmosphere, different temperature. So in this way varieties. That is ananda. Krsna has created these varieties because He is anandamayo 'bhyasat [Vedanta-sūtra 1.1.12]. Anandamaya. Unless there is variety... So we are part and parcel of that variety-maker. We are also one of the varieties, jiva-sakti. We are also one of the varieties. So how we can become variety-less, nirvisesa? That is not possible. Even artificially we try to become nirvisesa, variety-less, our constitutional position is that we want variety. How it can be stopped? Therefore in the sastra it is said, the so-called Mayavadi, impersonalist, monist, aruhya krcchrena param padam tataḥ [SB 10.2.32].
(More...) Imported quote 19858 So this philosophy, to merge into the big Brahman, Supreme Brahman, or effulgence, brahma-jyoti, that is not very secure position. It is said in the sastra that aruhya krcchrena param padam tataḥ patanty adhaḥ [SB 10.2.32]: they fall down. We have seen that many Mayavadi philosophers or sannyasis, they give up this world as mithya, false, but after some time, they again come to this false material world for some philanthropic work, humanitarian work, because they could not get Krsna. If you have left this world as false, then why you are coming again to give service to the world? No. They could not get. Aruhya krcchrena param padam [SB 10.2.32]. Param padam means Brahman. Patanty adhaḥ: "They fall down." Why? Anadrta-yusmad-ahghrayaḥ: "Because they neglected the lotus feet of Krsna." They did not get any shelter. Just like if you go very high in the sky but if you don't get a shelter, then again you come back. Just like these moon planet-goers, they attempted many times jumping, but they could not get any shelter. They have come back again. Now they have, I think, left off. What is that? "Grapes are sour." After jumping, jumping, the jackal, when he could not get the grapes, then he says that "Grapes are sour." That is... [laughter] "No need." So these so-called scientists, after jumping like the jackal, could not get any place in the moon planet, and they have come down again. It is not possible. You cannot go to any of the planets, although they are material. You cannot... Just like you cannot go to any country without getting the visa permit, similarly... There are many planets. They are open for your entrance, but not in that way, that by force you will go. That is not possible.
