It is the duty of a king to give protection to the citizens and to fulfill their desires. At the same time, the citizens must obey the laws of the state. Maharaja Prthu maintained all the standards of good government, and he was so invincible that no one could disobey his orders any more than a person could stop heat and light emanating from a fire. He was so strong and powerful that he was compared to the king of heaven, Indra. In this age modern scientists have been experimenting with nuclear weapons, and in a former age they used to release brahmastras, but all these brahmastras and nuclear weapons are insignificant compared to the thunderbolt of the king of heaven. When Indra releases a thunderbolt, even the biggest hills and mountains crack. On the other hand, Maharaja Prthu was as tolerant as the earth itself, and he fulfilled all the desires of his citizens, just as torrents of rain from the sky fulfill the need of the earth for water. Without rainfall, it is not possible to fulfill one's various desires on this planet. As stated in Bhagavad-gita, (parjanyad anna-sambhavaḥ, Bg. 3.14), food grains are produced only because rain falls from the sky, and without grains, no one on the earth can be satisfied. Consequently an unlimited distribution of mercy is compared with the water falling from the clouds. Maharaja Prthu distributed his mercy incessantly, much like rainfall. In other words, Maharaja Prthu was softer than a rose flower and harder than a thunderbolt. In this way he ruled over his kingdom.    (More...)

The Supreme Absolute Truth, the Personality of Godhead, is compared with the blazing fire, whereas the innumerable living entities are compared with the sparks emanating from the blazing fire. So, although both of them are fire in quality, yet there is the distinction that Vishnu the Supreme is infinite, whereas the living entities, which are sparks, are infinitesimal. The infinitesimal living entities are emanations from the original infinite spirit. In other words, in their constitutional position as infinitesimal spirits, there is no trace of matter.    (More...)

So we have to give up this body and we have to accept another body. So labor or work for such body which will no more be material body. This is intelligence. Mad-yajino 'pi yanti mam [Bg 9.25]. Next body means as we are acting, according to the resultant action of our activities we get next body. Karmana daiva-netrena jantur deha upapattaye [SB 3.31.1]. How you get next life? In this life we are acting in a certain way, and by nature we shall get a similar body. Nature's law is so perfect that the law you... Just like infection. I have several times explained: you infect some disease, the disease will come out. Not that somebody will come to award you the disease. By nature's way it will come out. If you say that "Somebody will come," no. The nature's law is so perfect. Just like if you touch fire, immediately it will burn, not that you have to wait. Similarly, nature's law. It is stated in the Bhagavad-gita, prakrteḥ kriyamanani gunaiḥ karmani sarvasaḥ [Bg 3.27]. As you are associating with different modes of material nature, you are creating your future.    (More...)
