oneness

Imported quote 13718
The spirit soul is one, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. He is manifested in svamsa and vibhinnamsa expansions. The jivas are vibhinnamsa expansions. The different incarnations of the Supreme Personality of Godhead are svamsa expansions. Thus there are different potencies of the Supreme Lord, and there are different expansions of the different potencies. In this way, for different reasons there are different expansions of the same one principle, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. This understanding is real knowledge, but when the living entity is covered by the upadhi or designated body, he sees differences, exactly as one sees differences in reflections of oneself on water, oil or in a mirror. When something is reflected on the water, it appears to be moving. When it is reflected on ice, it appears fixed. When it is reflected on oil, it appears hazy. The subject is one, but under different conditions it appears differently. When the qualifying factor is taken away, the whole appears to be one. In other words, when one comes to the paramahamsa or perfectional stage of life by practicing bhakti-yoga, he sees only Krsna everywhere. For him there is no other objective.    (More...)

Individual... Without individuality, there is no ananda. If we are sitting together, the oneness is the process of service, that's all. But there are joking. They are cutting jokes. There are some varieties of food. That is ananda. Varieties are there. That is ananda. But they are for one purpose: satisfaction of Krsna. That is oneness, not that we have become amalgamated. Amalgamation... We are amalgamated in one purpose, but not that the... It cannot be, because we are separated energy eternally. Mamaivamso jiva-bhūtaḥ jiva-loke sanatanaḥ [Bg 15.7], sanatana. Sanatana means eternal. It is not that by chance we have become separated individuals. No. This word is used, sanatana. Sanatana means eternal. Eternally we are separated energy, and that is the beginning of Sahkarsana. Sahkarsanaḥ karana-toya-sayi . That Sahkarsana, before this material creation, He lies down in the Karana Ocean, karana-toya-sayi. Then... Yasyaika-nisvasita-kalam athavalambya [Bs 5.48]. He is lying in the Karana Ocean in the sleeping mood, and then, from His breathing, innumerable universes are coming out. That is the origin of material creation. Yasyaika-nisvasita-kalam athavalambya.    (More...)
Hare (pronounced Ha-ray) is the supreme pleasure potency of the Lord. Krsna is the original name of the Lord, and it means the all-attractive. Rama is another name of the Lord meaning the enjoyer because Krsna is the supreme enjoyer; the function of the living being is to be enjoyed by Krsna. Under the false impression that they are the enjoyers, the living beings are actually suffering in material existence. The living being cannot enjoy independently. It is impossible. Because the living entities are constantly trying to accomplish the impossible, they are constantly frustrated. Our limited senses do not have the capacity for independent enjoyment, but when we use our senses to please the senses of Krsna, then we are automatically satisfied. In so doing, the senses of the individual become dovetailed with the supreme senses of Krsna, and the living being attains the pleasure and happiness which is otherwise impossible to find. Krsna consciousness is experienced as a process of self-purification. Its means and ends are an open secret, and there is no financial charge for learning Krsna consciousness or receiving initiation into the chanting of Hare Krsna. Therefore, sahkirtana, or the chanting of the Hare Krsna mantra in the city streets for the benefit of all citizens, is one of the more important activities of ISKCON. Sahkirtana parties are frequently seen celebrating the holy name of Krsna with dancing and melodious singing, accompanied with mrdahga drums and pairs of karatalas (hand cymbals). The devotees experience that this joyous singing of the names of God produces immediate feelings of ecstasy. The effect is a clearing away of the dirt from the mind engrossed in the gloom of material existence. Because the Personality of Godhead is absolute, His name is nondifferent from Himself. Therefore the Supreme Person, Krsna, the reservoir of pleasure, allows the chanter of His name to experience the nectar of association with Him. The Society is as famous for its Sunday feasts and festivals as for its chanting in the streets. Every Sunday, in each of the ISKCON centers, a grand feast of from ten to fifteen courses of Indian vegetarian food is prepared and distributed to the guests. The feasts are arranged around festival days celebrating the pastimes of sri Krsna during His appearance on the earth 5,000 years ago. Plays, puppet shows and chanting are regular items which invite guests to participate in the transcendental glorification of the Personality of Godhead. Krsna consciousness is not a dry philosophy. Residents of San Francisco appreciate the yearly Ratha-yatra Festival in which the large cart bearing the Jagannatha Deity is wheeled to the sea. During the Ratha-yatra celebration of 1969, more than 15,000 people followed the regal 8,000 pound cart, and thousands were fed full plates of prasadam at the seaside. In London, a similar procession is led to Trafalgar Square. The important aim of the festivals, chanting and philosophizing is to engage people in the service of the Personality of Godhead so they can feel His soothing contact. All miseries are caused by forgetfulness of God, and ISKCON, by reviving the lost memory of the Supreme Lord in the minds of the people, is-according to Bhagavad-gita-performing the greatest service and highest welfare work for suffering humanity. Moreover, it is performed in this sublime and easy way, by feasting, dancing, singing and philosophizing.    (More...)
