imagine a form of lord

Imported quote 12956 The description given by Narada Muni is not imaginary. The form of the Lord is understood by the parampara system. Mayavadi philosophers say that we have to imagine the form of the Lord, but here Narada Muni does not say that. Rather, he gives the description of the Lord from authoritative sources. He is himself an authority, and he is able to go to Vaikunthaloka and see the Lord personally; therefore his description of the bodily features of the Lord is not imagination. Sometimes we give instructions to our students about the bodily features of the Lord, and they paint Him. Their paintings are not imaginary. The description is given through disciplic succession, just like that given by Narada Muni, who sees the Lord and describes His bodily features. Therefore, such descriptions should be accepted, and if they are painted, that is not imaginative painting.

Just like if you speculate of a big man, a neighbor, a friend, that "What is his wealth? Oh, he appears to be very rich man and very strong man, very influential man." And these are the opulences: very beautiful, very wise. So you can calculate. But if you make friendship with that gentleman and if he speaks about himself, then you can understand what he is. Then how you can understand God, Krsna, by speculation? This is foolishness. Therefore, sastra advises you that jnane prayasam udapasya [SB 10.14.3]: "If you think that you are very learned scholar, you are very advanced in knowledge and you can manufacture what is God, give up this foolishness first of all. Don't make this foolishness." Jnane prayasam. Oh, what is your knowledge? Limited. Kūpa-manḍūka, the frog in the well. How you can imagine? Simply by imagination? Is imagination God? Can you create?
