My dear Rupanuga,
Please accept my blessings, I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter of January 24, 1972, and I am glad that the contract with MacMillan Co. is being strengthened in our favour. But I would like to finish up this business with MacMillan as quickly is as possible by settling contract terms, so that Bhagavad Gita As It Is may not be delayed any longer. You have been promising me for more than one year, but where is that book? So kindly settle immediately, there is no use for dragging this matter on and on, better to print ourselves with Dai Nippon, as Karandhar has just done. The wording in the contract is a11 right, But with reference to your telegram, that royalties do not "decrease less than 10%. MacMillan Co. can determine whatever priced they want, after all, they must sell the book in as large a quantity as possible so they shall adjust things automatically in our favour in that respect.
So far ISKCON Press is concerned; I understand that Bali Mardan has proposed to make some changes, especially regarding the BKF account. That's all right, but as I have recently fold Karandhar in a letter, if any GBC member wants to propose a change, it is not that things can be done whimsically or suddenly, but he must put that change as a formal proposal before all other GBC men for their vote. Majority opinion will decide, but I shall have the final say. So until our so-called "Book Trust" is well organized, I have entrusted Karandhar to handle all matters concerning BKF account and printing of my books, and I have been all along very much pleased with his work. I am especially engladdened by his recent trip to Japan, that he has arranged so many books to be delivered by April 1st. Now you all work cooperatively to sell these books, that is your business, do not have arguments and split. That will be disaster. But now we must pay about $100.000 within a few months, so I want that you and Karandhar and Bali Mardan and the others GBC men work out a plan for selling these books as many as possible, so we can pay off our obligation to Dai Nippon and go on printing with them more and more. That will please me very much. You are one of my senior and most trusted disciples, now you please take it to heart to clear up this matter very tactfully and do the needful.
I hope this will meet you in good health and happy mood,
Your ever well-wisher,
