hayam anvesamanas te
samantan nyakhanan mahim
SYNONYMS
sumatyah tanayahthe sons born of Queen Sumati; drptahvery proud of their prowess and influence; pituhof their father (Maharaja Sagara); adesa-karinahfollowing the order; hayamthe horse (stolen by Indra); anvesamanahwhile seeking; teall of them; samantateverywhere; nyakhanandug; mahimthe earth.
TRANSLATION
[King Sagara had two wives, Sumati and Kesini.] The sons of Sumati, who were very proud of their prowess and influence, following the order of their father, searched for the lost horse. While doing so, they dug into the earth very extensively.
